The NAUI Divemaster Certification program through Black Hills Aquatic Adventures’ NAUI VA Testing Center is the first professional-level step in the NAUI leadership pathway. This program prepares experienced divers to supervise dive activities, assist with training, and serve as knowledgeable leaders within the scuba industry.

Qualified service members and veterans may use G.I. Bill® benefits toward approved scuba certification and professional licensing programs. Students can continue progressing through professional dive leadership pathways while using eligible VA education benefits.

What Is a Divemaster?

A NAUI Divemaster is a trained dive professional qualified to organize and supervise certified divers, assist instructors with training, and help ensure safe diving operations.

Divemasters often work in:

  • Dive shops and training facilities

  • Public safety diving programs
  • Scientific and environmental diving programs
  • Travel and tourism operations

The Divemaster course develops leadership, professionalism, dive theory knowledge, problem-solving ability, and real-world operational experience.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum age: 18 years old
  • Master Scuba Diver certification or equivalent
  • Current CPR and First Aid training
  • Logged scuba diving experience
  • Medical clearance for diving may be required
